MISSION:

The mission of Mountain Valley Aquatics (MVA) is to provide competitive swimmers with a USA Swim Club, by promoting a high level competitive swimming program year round.  Team members who commit to year round participation are provided the opportunity to pursue goals in the sport of swimming at their own personal level of ability with the guidance and support from Coach Barbara “Barb” Belyea. 

WHAT WE DO:           

Mountain Valley Aquatics (MVA) is a USA swim team registered with Southeastern Swimming. MVA practices at the Heart of the Valley YMCA in Huntsville as a tenant organization and is not a YMCA sponsored program.  MVA is a coach owned club.  MVA participates in USA short course meets in two sessions, the fall session from September through November and the winter session from December through April. MVA also participates in USA long course meets in one session from April through July. MVA does not practice the month of August.

Due to limited pool space and practice time, MVA swimmers must have competitive swimming experience and must display a high level of aptitude and desire.  Team members are required to try out and commit to swimming.  Your child must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in all four strokes.  Every July, swimmers must try out for Mountain Valley Aquatics for the next year.  Considerations for team members are current swim progression, attitude, previous meet attendance, and previous behavior.  Team members are limited to intermediate and advanced level swimmers.

REQUIREMENTS

Team members are required to swim one team attended meet in the fall session(September through November), and to swim two team attended meets per session in the winter(December through April) and summer(April through July) sessions consisting of at least four events per meet. Failure to meet this requirement could result in the swimmer being removed from the team.

FEES

1.      Monthly Fees:

a.      $35 per child MVA coaching fee

b.      Pool Fees

                                                              i.      $40 fee for non YMCA members

                                                            ii.      $35 fee for YMCA members

2.      Annual  Fees:

a.      USA Swimming registration $60 per swimmer annually

a.      Entry fees

b.      Event fees

c.       Facility Fees

d.      USA swimming surcharges

e.      Coaching fees $15 per meet, this covers the coach’s travel expenses for the meet.

CURRENT MOUNTAIN VALLEY AQUATIC’S MEMBERS

If you do not practice or pay your fees, for a thirty day period, your team position will be considered abandoned. You may be placed back on the team based on pool space, positive performance, positive attitude, acceptable meet involvement, and favorable previous behavior.  There are athletes in the area who are interested in year round swimming on a progressive team. The intent of Mountain Valley Aquatics is to attract and retain serious swimmers who want to participate and excel in year round USA Swimming.

Mountain Valley is not your typical swim organization.

1.      Mountain Valley Aquatics does not host meets. Therefore, you do not have to pay any fees or work sessions for each day of any meets attended.

2.      There are no mandatory fund raising levels set for each swimmer. 

3.      We currently do not have a required team uniform other than the MVA swim cap.

4.      We are not a weight control program, a workout program, a babysitting service, or here to prepare you for your summer swim league or high school programs.
